The Verkhneteshsky Open-Pit Mine (part of the Sibanthracite Group) held the first event of its new 'Eco-Life' ecological and educational project. A large-scale event took place at a camp outside the village of Targai, where the company's representatives had prepared both a training and entertainment program for the participants. Five teams had to visit five stations, where a curator assigned tasks related to ecology. The children played charades, showing what not to do in the forest with the help of gestures, and also learned about codes on plastic packages, cleaned the world's oceans of garbage, and solved riddles about nature.
According to Arina Krisanova, head of the Verkhneteshsky Open-Pit Mine's Environmental Protection Department, in its professional activities, the company not only takes measures to protect the environment, but also engages in charitable educational projects:
"The Sibanthracite Group considers environmental care to be a priority, so we try to instill respect for nature in the younger generation. After all, the future of the planet depends on us and our children. We are sure that if we teach children about environmental norms from an early age, it will have a positive impact in adulthood."
Following the results of the eco-event, the winning team was presented with useful gifts – cloth shopping bags – an alternative to plastic and paper bags.
The Verkhneteshsky Open-Pit Mine will continue to upscale the Eco-Life project. From the beginning of the new school year, interesting environmental classes will be held in schools and other children's institutions in the Novokuznetsk District.
