The management of the coal enterprise took part in a meeting on the environment called by Novokuznetsk Municipal District head Andrey Sharnin.
Representatives of the technical department of the Sibanthracite Group's Verkhneteshsky Open-Pit Mine described a program to reduce the risk of negatively impacting the environment by using the best technologies available. The report was announced during a meeting on the environment, which was also attended by other coal mining companies.
From its first day of operation, the Verkhneteshsky Open-Pit Mine has paid great attention to ecology while fulfilling all the requirements of environmental legislation. According to the head of the Environmental Protection Department, Arina Kirsanova, a lot of work has been done over the past two years:
"Besides building waste treatment facilities, the company regularly monitors noise and seismic effects at the border of the environmental buffer zone and monitors air and soil quality. In addition, over 100,000 coniferous trees have been planted throughout the Kemerovo Region over the past two years. By the end of the year, over 230,000 seedlings will have been planted on an area of 75.5 hectares."
In addition to taking mandatory measures to protect the environment, the Verkhneteshsky Open-Pit Mine regularly holds charity events. In the spring of this year, the company's employees planted 30 cedars in the village of Atamanovo, and also took a natural landmark under its wing – the Kuzedeevskaya Cave, where they conducted a large-scale clean-up.
The head of the Novokuznetsk Municipal District, Andrey Sharnin, thanked the Verkhneteshsky Open-Pit Mine for its effective work and praised the company's activities.
