Vostochny Open-Pit Mine Produces Its 50 Millionth Tonne of Coal

On May 14, the company extracted its 50 millionth tonne of high-quality anthracite. The company has achieved these extraordinary results in just the nine years since the mine was launched.

The Vostochny Open-Pit Mine is one of the youngest and most dynamically developing enterprises in the Sibanthracite Group. It was created from scratch in 2015 and production began in 2016. In just six years, the company has equaled the production of the Kolyvansky Mine, which has been in operation since 1975, and continues to increase production volumes. In 2023, the Vostochny Open-Pit Mine produced 8.3 million tonnes of anthracite.

The Vostochny Open-Pit Mine holds several world records for the extraction of rock mass, which were set in the period from 2021 to present. One belongs to the crew of an ESh-11/75 walking dragline excavator, whose team extracted 703,000 m3 of rock mass in a month, breaking its own world record of 576,000 m3. Another record was set by EKG-12K excavator brigade No. 44, which extracted 700,100 m3 of rock mass in a month.

The Vostochny Open-Pit Mine takes active part in developing the Novosibirsk Region and is one of its largest taxpayers. Since 2016, the company has contributed 22.8 billion rubles to the region’s coffers.
