In 2022, the Group will contribute 41.8 million rubles to socio-economic support
Sibanthracite has signed agreements on socio-economic partnership with seven municipalities in Novosibirsk Region’s Iskitimsky District. In 2022, Sibanthracite Group enterprises – Siberian Anthracite and Vostochny Open-Pit Mine – will provide 41.8 million rubles in financial assistance to the villages of Guselnikovsky, Evsinsky, Ust-Chemsky, Listvyansky, and Talmensky, as well as Iskitimsky District and Linevo.
The group has drawn up a plan to organize socially significant events jointly with local residents, deputies, and the heads of village councils. Support will be mainly provided to promote education, culture, healthcare, sports, and ecology, as well as to help vulnerable segments of the population.
“Agreements with municipalities where our production facilities are located have been concluded for six years in a row now. This practice makes it possible for both sides to work together effectively. The tasks are planned a year in advance within an established budget. The heads of municipalities use our support to promote economic and social development in the areas that they manage, so we see how the company contributes to accomplishing them,” said Elena Leshchinskaya, head of the Sibanthracite Management Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department.
The company traditionally allocates coal to the district’s municipalities to ensure they make it through the heating season. In the recently signed agreement, 12.9 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes. This will make it possible to set aside a 6,000-tonne anthracite reserve for the district’s coal-fired boiler plants.
The Group pays particular attention to supporting education. Sibanthracite will support children from the village of Linevo in travelling to international and All-Russian contests and competitions. Sports equipment, furniture, energy-saving lightbulbs, dishwashers, refrigerators, and more will be purchased for Iskitimsky District schools. Sibanthracite will purchase tools and kits for robotics and aircraft modeling, as well as 3D plastic, metal, and other consumable materials for the Sputnik Center, which develops scientific and technical creativity in children.
Environmental and landscaping projects, building renovations, and initiatives to preserve historical memory will also receive extensive support.
In addition to the specific charitable events organized as part of the agreements, the Sibanthracite Group maintains long-term social programs in Iskitimsky District. The company equips the district’s schools with modern computers and is a strategic partner in the federal Teacher for Russia program in Novosibirsk Region. Last week, the Coddy School launched a free Python programming course for students at one of Linevo’s schools. In May, a second annual grant competition will be launched to support local residents’ social initiatives.
