Siberian Anthracite introduces new LIFE LINE safety technology

Vehicles operating at production sites have become more noticeable in the dark due to brightly illuminated red lines that outline the perimeter of the mining equipment

A new safety system dubbed LIFE LINE has been successfully tested at Siberian Anthracite and a decision has been made to begin using it.

The technology is designed to make graders, loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment more visible in the dark. A projector is attached to the vehicle, which creates bright red lines around the perimeter of the equipment, making it significantly more noticeable to other road users.

The innovation was developed by the head of Siberian Anthracite’s Labor Protection, Industrial Safety, and Production Control Service, Danil Fakhretdinov, who worked out options for reducing the risk of accidents. Danil Fakhretdinov said he’d come up with the idea to illuminate the heavy vehicles for a long time, but it hadn’t been possible to implement until this year. Siberian Anthracite’s employees, including drivers, highly value LIFE LINE.

“In test mode, the projector was installed on one of the graders that move around in the mining site. After finishing work late in the evening, it was confirmed that it was more noticeable. A survey also showed that employees are pleased with the new technology. A bright red light does not blind people, but, on the contrary, signals the presence of working equipment. This will have a positive impact on road safety,” said the inventor.

The mine’s management also highly appreciate Danil Fakhretdinov’s idea. In the first phase of the roll out, the red lines will illuminate 192 vehicles, and that number will increase in the future.
